Introduction

Manchester, June 16th, 1844

Dear students,

As a group of supporters of the British labour movement you are trying to persuade the owners of the factories in Manchester to improve working conditions for all workers. The key to your success will be the public opinion on this topic.
At first you will have to find out how these factories in Manchester came to be, how they operate and who is really profiting from them.
The next step will be to gather information on topic from the workers and other sources to create a report on the living conditions of the working class in Manchester. Collected media, like pictures, interviews and maps may be of vital importance for this.
In the end all your gathered information, presented in the right way, should get the attention of the people in the streets and by this hopefully will persuade the owners to change the working praxis.
In this task you are not alone as you will be assisted by writers, experts and several volunteers who are willing to talk about their lives.

Will you be up to the challenge that lies ahead of you?
